opera glasses

A pair of opera glasses my teenaged great aunt gave to my ten-year old grandma when she took her to her first play in New York.

Found: On my bookshelf. In front of some books by Gogol and Dostoevsky.

Made of: Metal, glass, leather, sweaty palms, squinting.

Uses: Spying on neighbors. Becoming cross-eyed. Remembering my great aunt, who doesn’t remember anymore.

Name of the play: Unknown.

Decision: Put in a box of stuff I want to keep but don’t need on my bookshelf.
